Melanie...

What a week

This has been a weird week.  Seems kinda fast.  Meg's foot is healing and she should have her stitches out in about 7 more days.  She came home last night and this morning will have her wisdom teeth out.  I hope that goes well.  She really needs to heal and get back to normal.  If I would have known she was gonna have such an ordeal with the foot I would have never scheduled the dentist.  Hopefully this next week will be the last rough week for her.  Before you know it the semester will be over and she will be home from Christmas.

Joey only has 10 more classes for his BA.  Time has flown.  In some ways it seems its been long and in other ways not.  He was so cute this morning.  I heard him asking Meg last night if he could drive her car to school today.  He wanted to take his "friend" to lunch with the ragtop down.  She said of course and handed him the keys.  They are so close and so good to each other I sure hope their relationship stays this way forever.  He even asked me if I needed help with her today cause he has some time in between classes. 

Joe has a very busy weekend.  He always volunteers at Swamp Fest ( used to be Flapjack ) festival.  He works the entertainment tent.  He is responsible for all the sound and schedule.  He schedules the bands and then he has to run the sound for everyone.  In addition to that he had over booked to GIGS.  One tonight and one tomorrow night.  So I know come Monday he will sleep all day.  So anyone that wants to do something fun, go to Land O Lakes Swamp Fest this weekend.  You can google it to find the info.  I will say that tonight and tomorrow night is awsome entertainment.  Crystal Blue plays tonight and is awsome and Amanda Drake and the Barnburners is tomorrow night along with some other local bands.  Carnival rides and good CORN ON THE COB which my friends with the Sertoma club have that booth. 

Ok off to get a shower and take my baby girl to oral surgeon.  I will post later.

I am away at college

Well not really, but I always wanted to say that.  I am however at UF.  Meg cut her foot on Sunday night while at home and she has stiches and crutches.  I drove her back here last night and got her situated.  Today I have to take her to the clinic here and have paper work faxed from the hospital and she has to sign papers and stuff so that her follow up care can be dne at the college.

Wow..you sure do see a lot of stuff on college campus and in these college apartments.  I wont go into detail.  I slept on her bedroom floor.  Too old for that.  I woke up popping motrin and trying to get my back somewhat back to normal.  The college life is not for me.  I like my own house.  When there are 4 roomies you dont have much control.  I will be headed back to Tampa tonight.

Great night !!!! As I type I am listening to Meg and Joe talk about laws and stuff she is learning in some of her law classes.  Wow  I really think that she is going to make a great lawyer.

Joey is sitting across the room watching the USF game and the dogs and cats are also sitting in here. So the entire family is together.....just like I like it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meg and I went to oral surgeon today for a consult...not too bad , she will have 3 wisdom teeth removed next Friday..and it is not going to cost as much as I thought.  Thank goodness for my dental insurance.  The doctor was so funny.  Meg told him she dressed as a hippie for her party last night.  He laughed"Honey..you might have dressed like a hippie, but I was a hippie...I was at Woodstock..."  Then they started talking about what her major was and law school and that he actually thought he was going to law school last year but after spending a day shadowing a law student, he realized he burned too many braincells in the "hippy days".  Anyway after the visit we then headed over to the custom auto shop who put the new vinyl top on her car several months ago...she has been fighting mildew and its just awful.  They wanted to get smart and say she must be leaving the top down when its wet along with tons of other excuses.  Then they had the balls to ask if we ever had it treated.  I said well the 700.00 we paid when you put it on we assumed YOU treated it .  And you never once told us to treat it .  Jeez...so the detailer came out and showed us how to clean it and gave us the stuff to treat it ....PISS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh by the way I will be posting the name of the company so NO ONE ELSE uses them.  I just want to make sure I have the correct name....dont want to accuse the wrong person.

Tomorrow we will carve the pumpkin , we dont get trick or treaters, Joey is going to a party, Meg is going with James to his parents house to give out candy and eat supper..and then they will come to Winners to hear Joe and the band.

Slick Nickle

That is the name of my husband's band. I enjoy listening to them.  There is a lot of talent between the four of them.  They have been playing places like Winners, Beef O Brady's , and this past saturday Ukeleles in Land o Lakes.  If any wants to hear some great classics come and join us sometime.

I am feeling better thank goodness.  I was fighting a UTI, but that is just tmi for yall.  I will start by recapping from my last post...

Friday, Meg called to tell me she loved the glitter cup I had made her and that she would be sporting it around all weekend.  Im gonna believe it had sweet tea in it. (NOT)!!!

I stopped by Hilltopmemories crop in San Ann , which was about 3 min from my house.  Linda of course always has things so nice and I did enjoy seeing some friends.  I wish I would have felt like cropping.  I came home and took a nap.  Joe was playing a gig at Beef o Brady's in Land o Lakes and it was outside and it was freezing!  I didnt want to go at first but I am glad that I went.  He had several friends that he has caught up with on facebook.  Yes he has a facebook account. So there were about 10 people from the class of '77 Hillsborough high school.  They were a fun group of people!  Some really beautiful women. 

Sunday Joe played a benifit for a friend of the community that is battling cancer.  It was really nice.  Lots of bands came together and played and by the looks of things some money was raised for him.  It was a fun time.  Joe and I actually had the day to ourselves.  Meg was in Gville and Joey was with friends.

Monday , back to work.  Monday night football with the new coach that I am in love with.  I used to have a crush on Gruden, but now its the coach for the Denver Bronco's.  Oh my, just google him! 

Tuesday work, and getting a call from my wonderful son, "mom can you come and unlock my truck I left the keys in it love Joey"  I am not sure if him being 15 min away from me at school is good or bad.  Of course I rescued him again.

Tonight Joe made supper.  I really have his support on this diet.  I have lost 35 lbs with the help of my family being so supportive.  Then I went about 4 weeks and cheated here and there.  Although thankfully I have not gained any weight back , I have not lost any either.  So Monday I started back on the strict 1100 calories a day.  So tonight Joe cooked and I blogged to stay away from the food. 

Joey is finishing up some homework, the game is about to come on ..GO ANGELS!!!! and I am gonna paint my toenails and fingernails.

Before I leave...I have a dear friend that has a lot on her mind right now about some business and life changing decisions.  Sometimes my friend doesnt show that she is upset or frazzled about anything.  But I know my friend and the passion she has for her profession and I know this has been a heavy weight on her mind.  My friend, I love you and I think you have made the right decision for what it is worth. 

One more thing...Pray for Meg to have a safe trip to DC.  She will be boarding a charter bus with 25 other Gators and will head to DC for two days of meeting with corporations and getting a taste of the business world along with some free time to have fun.  I just hope she is safe and the bus driver better take care of my baby!   Meg have fun but remember all the safety tips we have gone over a million times.  LOVE MOM!!!!  I will try not to blow your phone up ..but keep it charged just in case!

Glitter Cup

Here it is!  There are several things I would do a little different given the time.  I didnt have any orange glitter or I would have made the UF in orange.  I wish I had a few trinkets but I Michales had nothing with an aligator or football.  So this will have to do for now.

Favorites

I have to vent for just a moment this morning.  I read this blog daily and I am not even sure why I do, but I do.  This person always attaches the word FAVORITE to a person.  She has made it very clear that she has a FAVORITE daughter, FAVORITE neice...hell I am waiting on her to say she has a FAVORITE husband.  Anyway, it just bothers me.  I wish she would go back and count the times she has said or doted on the one daughter, no wonder the other one is so messed up.  I bet if you talked to the one that appears to be "messed up" she would tell you it has to do with her mother calling the other daughter her favorite.

I have two kids and even though I might talk about one a little bit more at times than the other...you will never hear me say "my favorite kid".

Ok that is just my 2 cents worth today.  I feel better now, and maybe I shouldnt read "the list".

My glitter cup is a work in progress. Thanks to Linda I used the large Ice Tea cup from McDonalds.  I couldnt find Martha Stewart glitter in Gator blue. so I had to use an off brand that is not a fine but works.  So what if the cup weighs a ton. Now to find the Gator orange ribbon...Walmart in Gainesville has a ton !!!

I will post a pic when its done.  Beer and glitter, hmm maybe I should come up with a new Bud LITE...GLitterLite.

Tuesday and not much to tell

Another Tuesday.  Meg went back to Gville yesterday and I am working from home this week.  It's funny to see what goes on during the day with the animals and the neighbors.  I didnt realize the kids play with the donkey on their way home from the bus stop.  He acutally knows when the bus comes I think.  He stands at the fence and waits on them.  Im glad they are the neighbors kids that I get along with or I could see a lawsuite if he bit anyone.

Joey has mid-terms this week so he has been studying and testing.  I enjoyed my time with him this morning.  He had a late day so I drank my coffee and he drank his OJ.  We talked a while on plans for the rest of the week.  He takes his GK test again on 10/24.  Everybody pray!

Meg is going to DC Oct 21,22,23,24, but I will let her tell about that on her blog..all I can say is 25 gators on a bus to dc....that town will never be the same!

I have to say I am tired of the heat.  I wish we had a little break.  I guess we will have NO winter at all this year.  My poor airconditioner just runs non stop.

I see that my friend Linda is acting like me and going days without posting. I am sure she is busy getting ready for a weekend crop.

Ok let me find some food to eat and I have to run up to the Post office.

Meg was home and playing around and now I have music on my blog.  My song selection ...Toes, well I just like that song.  There are many days I wish my ass was in the sand and not in an office chair!  Lady A, well that song reminds me of Meg.  I know that she is going to make a difference.  When I close my eyes and listen to those words, it just sounds like Meg talking.  Last but not least..Meatloaf..awww, my highschool days.  I dont relate that song to any relationship, just the era.  It is a classic and my favorite Meatloaf song.

I was looking and where did the time go since I last posted? Meg came home, Joe played a gig on Friday night.  It was my sil birthday and I some some family that I havnt seen in years.  Beautiful children and so well behaved!

Meg and James went to a wedding for one of James' friends and there was a calamity of things that went on..like the wedding delayed cause there were water issues and the bride couldnt take a shower.  The septic tank was also being pumped so there was a truck in the front yard pumping.  But by the looks of the pics that Meg took, that was a wedding that was simple and sweet and those two are just as married as a million dollar wedding.  Pretty cake , lots of home cookin with a pig roast and tons of Corona and Bud Lite...hmm sounds like I would have had a blast.   The broken down truck in the backyard even had balloons tied to it.

Talk about food.  OMG my diet was totally blown today. But thats ok I will starve myself the rest of the week.  My neighbor was having water issues too.  Joe went over and helped him out and replaced some parts on the pump.  Well at about 6pm when I was saying that I just didnt want to cook, there was a knock on my door and it was my neighbor.  He had smoked baby back ribs all day, made some good ol southern baked mac and cheese ( the cheese just had strands coming from it that stuck to your chin) baked beans to die for.  I ate it all !!  Thanks Joe for helping out , that meal was so worth it and so unexpected!

I am still in my pj's from last night.  Yes no shower and same ol pj's.  Felt so good.  I am going to get a shower and put on some clean pj's.  I love these kinds of days.  NOW if we could just have some cooler weather.

I work from home this week so I should have more blogging time.  Goals are to loose a few pounds and wish Meg luck with her official interview with Kohls this week.  She has to land an internship.
